Vintage & Modern Photos Wanted For A Brand New Exhibition and Archive!
Updated: May 17, 2019
Submit old and new photos to feature in a brand new exhibition and photo archive for Asian Women & Cars: The Road to Independence, 25 May - 29 June 2019.
In 2017, I started looking through my collection of old family photo albums. I noticed that there were only a few images of women with cars. Yet there were lots of photos of the men in my family photographed with their cars.
During the creation of this work, I got to know a number of South Asian women who drive. I was privileged to be invited into their homes and lucky enough to see their private photo collections, including rare images of them posing with their cars. I saw some beautiful, rare and vintage pictures that are hidden away in storage. I was even more delighted to hear the story behind the image.
I know I wasn't able to reach all the women I would have liked.
Therefore we're launching an online campaign to gather even more images of women with their cars, capturing the past and present. Please see details below on how to take part.
Click on this link and submit a photo. We are looking for:
Rare and unseen vintage images from private collections.
New photos of women striking a pose with their current car.
Share the story behind the photograph
More the merrier! You can submit more than one image but it have a connection to cars.
What will we do with the collection of photos and stories?
All submissions are moderated by the artist and curators.
If suitable and approved:
We will print the photos and feature them alongside a new exhibition called Asian Women & Cars: The Road To Independence. Opens on 25th May - 29th June 2019. More info click here: https://www.blastphotofestival.com/artist/dawinderbansal
We will feature them on this website and on social media platforms.
